Zano was a Kickstarter project with huge potential that raised over $3 million but spectacularly failed. While the Drone never shipped, the technology behind this product was very promising and caught the imagination of a few developers who were curious about exploring this further.

The Zano.Camera Project

We are a group of professional developers who love to play with technology. We are a non profit, open source group and for the past 12 months have been working in the background to unlock the Zano Drone and examine it's technology to see whether we can make Zano fly once more. Many of the team (spread out around the world) work for leading technology companies and have been working on this in our spare time.

Who we are

We are technology developers passionate about finding solutions to difficult problems. Making Zano fly again is exciting but it is also a big challenge because much of the code was only part completed when the project collapsed.

We welcome questions from anyone interested in this project. Many of us work full time and run this in our spare time so we may not be able to answer every request.

Many of the sensor manufacturers that are in Zano have released new improvements to their components which have the potential to improve the performance of the Drone. We are excited by this and in true hacker spirit, we aim to integrate these developments into the Drone to see if it can enhance the original product.

There is no guarantee it will ever fly as originally intended, however with new advances in hardware and writing new software that works to successfully integrate every sensor on board, we believe some of the interesting features they tried to achieve could be possible.
